Cost types and Cost type groups

All expenses you register on your orders in Xena must have a cost type. Learn more about Cost types and Cost type groups here.

 

The cost types in Xena serve several purposes:

1. For order statistics: You can advantageously categorize the expenses you register on your orders by cost types. On the 'Statistics' tab of the order, you will see a graphical distribution of the cost per cost type.
2. For article group suggestions: The article group from the cost type is used when you post an expense on an order WITHOUT using an article number. The article group is necessary if you later want to invoice the expense.
3. For calculating estimated sales price: The contribution margin from the cost type is used to calculate an estimated sales price when you post an expense on an order WITHOUT using an article number.
4. For budgeted sales price: When you enter budget figures on an order or project, the contribution margin from the cost type is used to calculate an estimated sales price for the budgeted expense.

 

Cost types

You can find the cost types via the menu Setup > Order Setup, select the 'Cost type' tab.

Here, you can create additional cost types or edit existing ones by either clicking on the description or choosing Edit in the menu (the three dots) next to the cost type.

 

Creating a cost type:

1. Enter a brief description
2. Enter a default contribution margin for calculating estimated sales price for expenses and budget
3. Enter an index number that solely determines the sorting of your cost types
4. Select the article group for costs recorded without an article number
5. Choose a cost type group that matches the cost type
